Basset Hounds love to be useful, almost as much as they love sleeping and eating. So it's not surprising they wanted to join in the autumnal effort to bring in the sheaves--and pumpkins, and Indian corn, and apples--in this Shenandoah County harvest-time tableau. Plus, it is always fun to ride in the back of a pickup, if the sun is out, it's warm and breezy, and you're only going 10 mph across a field. It would be more fun if there were another dog out there to exchange a little trash talk from the safety of the truck.
