$25 Bassets are born competitors, or at least some of them are--like those who show up at the Basset Hound Club of America's exciting annual show. The 2009 event was held in the Northwest in Washington State at the Little Creek Casino and Resort.
For many of the contestants, this was their first opportunity to explore the wild west and to take in first-paw the native American arts and culture that abound there.
One of the sights they enjoyed, when taking a break from the show ring or the agility course, was this handsome totem pole. It stands at the Trading Post near the resort hotel and judging area.
