The giclees listed below are in our current inventory, but any of the 60 + images shown in our print and portrait gallery may be ordered as giclees. The advantages of giclees are: 1) they may be purchased when original art is no longer available; 2) you can select the size you want for your wall and your wallet; 3) they are far less expensive than original oil paintings, but are usually indistinguishable from from original oil paintings in color, value, and texture. ClI I suppose everyone would prefer to have an original piece of art rather than a reproduction. But given that there's only one original of any painting, whether it's a Van Gogh or a Liz, it's not really possible for everyone to own the original of any work of art. Anyway, most of us can't afford to indulge in such purchases on a regular basis.
Giclees represent a giant step in the "art" of faithful reproduction. I sell far more giclee at the few shows we go to each year than we do over the Internet all year long. The reason for this, I'm convinced, is that you have to see the high quality giclees with your own eyes to appreciate the vibrancy of color and the sharpness of the images. I like some giclees better than my originals, but I'm not going to identify them!
If you buy art as an investment, reproductions don't make sense. It's unlikely they're going to make you rich. But if you buy a picture because you like the color and the images, feel a connection with the subject, and would like it to be a part of your personal environment, there's nothing wrong with a good repro.
