Commemorative display plates, for wall hanging or table-top display, are a new venture for us. Our first was a 2009 Mother's Day Plate, which is now sold out.

Our new plates commemorate the 2009 BHCA Nationals in Shelton, Washington, this fall, and our Christmas 2009 plate.

Commemorative or Collectors' plates have been produced in Europe and the United States since the late 1800s. The tradition continues today, although almost all are manufactured in China.  Among the famous plate creators today are Bing and Grondahl, Rosenthal, and Royal Copenhagen.  Dogs are often featured in their seasonal designs, illustrating that these items are not just for Basset-loving or even dog-owning folks!
